About Us

Dave Lumley is the proud owner of the biggest charter vessel in Hartlepool. The boat is a 10 metre blyth catamaran and is the newest charter vessel in the hartlepool fleet and offers the most stable fishing platform and has the largest deck space. The Famous cruises at 17 knots the vessel is licensed and insured for 12 anglers and has the latest furuno fishfinders and navigational equipment we fish the wrecks or the rough ground off the coast of hartlepool groups and individuals are always welcome the boat is situated in the marina at hartlepool and all trips are subject to the weather and the tides

The Famous is an exceptionally stable platform to fish from and you can travel in comfort as it speeds to and from the fishing sites. It handles rough sea so well it can often still go out when other vessels have to cancel. The waves just pass under the hulls without causing the rolling motion that can often lead to sea sickness on mono hull vessels.

Fishing Tables

From the end of october through until the end of april the main stay of fishing is done at anchor - that is Uptiding/Downtiding. The main stay of the fishing is Uptiding / Down tiding when we usually catch codling, whitting and flat fish. At this time of year you will need bait such as squid, mackeral, rag worm, lug worm, peeler crab, and its a good idea to have more than one type.

From April till the end of October we will start to drift fish either on the wrecks or the rough ground In the early part of the season you would still need bait as above and hopefully we wiil start to catch codling 2-3lb and above as the season progresses and the mackeral come in we will start to move further offshore and using the mackeral for bait we will start to use pirks and bait lures such as hokkias for cod and ling in the summer months we can also offer inshore trips for mackeral and whitting for those who dont want to spend all day at sea

Individuals (Vacancies that become available): please send an email and I will let you know when vacancies become available throughout the season.

Groups: Please send an email and join our database and I will send you news and availability updates on a quarterly basis.

  • The Skipper

Dave Lumley is a Hartlepool lad born and bred. For as long as he can remember he has been obsessed by anything to do with the sea. He has been a charter skipper since 1985 and is highly qualified holding the Royal Yachting Association Yacht master Offshore Commercial certificate. Although he currently specializes in sea angling charters he has a wide experience of commercial fishing including trawling for prawns and potting for lobsters and crabs. His interest in finding new wrecks led him to take up scuba diving. So not only does he know the location of all the best fishing spots he has also conducted under water exploration too. Dave is very proud of his boats and likes to keep them in a ship shape condition. He is a practical bloke and over the years he has undertaken substantial refits and maintenance projects onboard his vessels culminating in the commissioning of a brand new build in 2007. His interest has grown to such an extent that he is now training to be a small craft surveyor

The Famous is Dave's third boat. He wanted something that could get out to the fishing sites very quickly but was also comfortable for the passengers at the same time. He spent ages travelling around the country test driving lots of different makes and models before he finally decided to commission the Blyth Cat. He conducted the sea trails in the River Thames in October 2007. Then he brought her straight home to Hartlepool in one run. The weather was excellent for October but the sea was still rough at times. Taking delivery of a new boat is always a nerve raking time. However Dave smiled the whole way home. He was like a dog with two tails. His new boat had performed beyond his wildest dreams. It was fast and stable, even in rough seas. The engines are quiet and the passengers have so much space they can play football between bites.
